Software Engineer

Cleared Recruitment are supporting a privately owned Australian Defence technology company seeking multiple Software Engineers across various levels of experience, from experienced engineers through to senior technical specialists, who hold baseline clearance or above. (Australian citizens may be considered)
These are exciting opportunities to work on meaningful Defence projects, developing sophisticated software solutions across modelling, simulation, and mission-critical systems. You will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of advanced software capabilities supporting Australia's future Defence needs.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Strong software engineering experience with the ability to design, develop, test, and document clean, maintainable code
• Proficiency in programming languages including C++, C#, Java, and/or Python
• Experience developing applications across Windows and/or Linux environments
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and reasoning skills
• Experience working across the software development lifecycle
• Experience with Defence systems or complex technical environments, including areas such as:
  • Weapons systems
  • Electronic Warfare
  • Command and Control systems
  • Flight systems
  • Modelling and simulation

Desirable

• Experience developing distributed and networked software systems
• Knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, routing, switching, and system configuration
• Experience with software integration and working across complex technical environments
• Exposure to Artificial Intelligence (AI), Large Language Models (LLMs), intelligent systems, or AI-enabled software applications
• Experience with microservices, virtualisation, and containerisation technologies
• Familiarity with Atlassian tooling including Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket
• Experience working within Agile development and testing methodologies
• Candidates with a willingness and eligibility to upgrade to TSPV clearance will be highly regarded.
